The Vietnamese favorite, Cha Gio or fried rolls is customary to trywhen you go to Vietnam.
This local delight is served with lettuce and vermicelli with nuts and is sold as street food in Vietnam.
Nem rán (alternatively Chả giò in Southern Vietnamese dialect), is a popular dish in Vietnamese cuisine and usually served as an appetizer in America and European countries, where there are large Vietnamese communities. In Northern or standard Vietnamese, it is called nem rán ("fried roll"). In southern and central Vietnam and some overseas Vietnamese communities, it is referred to as chả giò ("minced pork sausage"). Source.
I could see it being sold in the streets by local vendors on my way to Nha Hang Vietnam House, a restaurant located in Saigon, and was literally my first taste of authentic Vietnamese Food.
